Montreal’s festive summer season was augmented in 2004 with the emergence of The Montreal International Reggae Festival – offering three days of “Reggae Rocking”. With an aim to not only showcase the pulsating Reggae beat of internationally renowned musicians, but also to highlight excellence amongst a diverse set of ‘Reggae Ambassadors’ from all corners of the world including Canadian based musicians, this festival continues to be held in high esteem. Consistently embracing the theme, “United Against Violence” the Montreal International Reggae Festival has become a significant tradition for Reggae music lovers in and outside of Canada.

A major new public concert at the foot of Mount Royal
For Montréal's 375th and Canada's 150th, our three major Montréal orchestras' the McGill Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will be coming together to celebrate this historic moment at the foot of our iconic Mount Royal. This concept show, created and produced by GSI Musique and directed by Simon Leclerc, will feature more than 400 musicians, pop artists and choral singers who promise to dazzle our eyes and ears and make our spirits soar.

The 2017 Montréal LGBTQ Parade is scheduled for Sunday August 20, 2017, beginning at noon. The parade will start on the corner of Drummond Street and travel east on René-Lévesque Boulevard, culminating on Alexandre-DeSève Street and the Village. The crowd will march to Parc des Faubourgs where everyone is invited to continue the celebrations during the MEGA T-DANCE until the closing show.

This August 26 and 27 will mark the 7th edition of the Festival Marionnettes Plein la rue (FMPR). In all, 20 companies from Quebec and abroad will perform on the street and in establishments along Promenade Wellington.
Primarily centred around short (35 minutes or less) puppet shows, the FMPR presents a vast choice of free shows that are as moving as they are fascinating. Thanks to the diverse programming proposed by the festival, both old and young can fill their minds with impressive imagery before heading back to school!

JACKALOPE is the largest action sports event in Canada. The 6th edition is slated to take place on August 18 to 20, 2017 at the Sun Life Financial Esplanade at Montreal’s Olympic Park. It’s the event of the year for adrenaline junkies who come to enjoy a variety of events and activities, including initiations, demonstrations and international-calibre competitions. The objective is to inspire people to be active and discover or rediscover the seven action sports that are featured at the event.
